This course examines the problem and related aspects of substance abuse using a bio-psycho-social framework, theoretical and medical explanations of the problem as well as addressing the spiritual and pharmacological aspects of substance abuse and societal responses to the problem. It introduces basic methods of assessment, intervention, treatment, and recovery. (Other Social Science majors may take this course by joint approval of their advisor and the course instructor).
