About OET's PLS
The purpose of the PLS is to provide readily available resources for all Shaw University faculty and staff to further promote the mission and objectives of the Office of Educational Technology in alignment with the University's mission and objectives.
OET’s Program Goals
In order to meet the increasing demand for online and distance education courses, it is critical that Shaw University
educate and support faculty in developing and implementing courses via one of the distance education formats;
enable faculty members to effectively integrate and implement technologies into their courses to enhance their technological and pedagogical skills;
develop students’ skills in order to be effective learners in distance education formats and to achieve learning outcomes;
increase student enrollment, retention, and satisfaction in distance education courses, ensure distance education integrity, as well as provide education access.
Standards
Effective teachers model and apply the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Students (Standards•S) as they design, implement, and assess learning experiences to engage students and improve learning; enrich professional practice; and provide positive models for students, colleagues, and the community. All teachers should meet the following standards and performance indicators.
